progress shots

I put the colours up a bit on the last one so they looked more like they do in person.  I'm not sure how I feel about this, as I intended the pink to be red, (I'm not a huge fan of pink paint) but I think it works ok... its more of a fuschia anyways. The drawing was a base to get something on the paper and from there I did some line work in ink on top and then started to take parts out and add colour.
I am not sure where this project is going at the moment, I am new to this abstract way of working, but am enjoying experimenting.

Trashy art

Thinking of ways to display my old collected objects for this object brief.. started attaching them to cardboard with wire and string. Deciding on an arrangement was the difficult bit. I am unsure if I like the bright colours. It's a bit rainbow-y?

Object

Drawing from previous made objects. black and white, using different materials.

After drawing my object from three different angles and experimenting with mark making and materials, I put a roll of tracing paper over my work. Through this I found the lines within the work to simplify and guide the piece towards a more refined and delicate object. I think the tones coming through the tracing paper are really effective as well.

Object

Construct objects from everyday things. I made the first two in class and went home and decided that I didn't like them. I wanted to work more with contrasting surfaces, so I used beach pebbles and broken china. I think the contrast between the two work well; natural vs man made, hard vs delicate, vibrant scolour vs dull colours, smooth edges vs soft rounded ones.
